Thanksgiving Gourmet Foods for the Cook

Many people don’t think about gourmet foods for Thanksgiving but I do and I want to share some of my favorite ideas with you. When the holidays roll around everyone in my family gathers at my house so I want to have some swankie hors d’ oeuvres on hand but I don’t necessarily want to do all the work. Okay, I cheat! Not all the time, but I must admit I cheat a lot! They don’t know it, so lets keep this our secret. Its not that I don’t have the skills and know how to prepare gourmet feasts and goodies ( I did own a full service Gourmet Catering company for 19 years, after all) its just that I have a full time job and many other interests that take up my time and energy. Still, I want to offer my friends and family yummy stuff that they think I cooked myself. When I’m looking for these items I watch for things that have the visual appeal, the fresh ingredients and the taste that I would insist on if I were starting from scratch and I always include a beautiful garnish, nothing screams homemade like a pretty garnish on the tray! There is a perfect Lemon and Dill Salmon cake that is one of my all time favorites and my entire family thinks I worked all day when ever I serve it, I just love that!! Top it off with a refreshing holiday beverage like the Cranberry Raspberry Flirtini and “Honey” you’ve got yourself a Thanksgiving party!

Appetizer Cucumber Rounds topped with Boursin Cheese, simple and easy but delicious and something everyone thinks I spent house working on plus, notice the pretty garnish!
